A booklet open to the public guides the conduct of the publication’s journalists, launched in October 2006
THE Piauí Magazine released this Wednesday (13.Apr.2022) the 1st edition of its Writing Manual, a booklet that guides the editorial line of the monthly publication.
The guideline is available for public viewing at the bottom of the Piauíhosted at wow. The magazine has been published since October 2006 and was founded by the filmmaker João Moreira Salles.
“In no hurry to reach the latest news, the publication believes that giving time for its professionals to act does not mean slowness, but trouble. The exhaustive collection of information, the lengthy contact with the characters and close observation are procedures that Piauí reporters do not give up.”, details the Handbook. The booklet presents 21 points of ethical conduct to be followed by journalists, such as “other people’s privacy concerns”, the identification of minors in reports and the activity of professionals outside the Piauí.
In the 2nd part, it shows the standardization of entries, the expected posture of journalists in their profiles on social networks and the conduct of fact checking prior to the publication of the articles. The document is succinct and has 12 pages.
In addition to the magazine, the Piauí also has a segment of podcaststhe fact-checking agency Magnifying glass and the blog The Piauí Herald. Participates in series of reports such as Pandora Papers, Luanda Leaks and Panama Papersall of ICJ (International Consortium of Investigative Journalists), as well as the Power 360.
Combining the printed and digital versions, the publications of Piauí sold 31,676 units in 2021.
