Five batches of “Accupril” have been withdrawn from the market by the company: “A voluntary choice” taken in advance
Five batches of the “Accupril” blood pressure pill, distributed by Pfitzer between the United States and Puerto Rico, have been withdrawn from the market by the company because it is carcinogenic. As revealed by the same company, known worldwide for producing the vaccine against Covid, the tablets could contain a substance that if taken regularly could be dangerous for human health or even cause cancer. The problem does not concern Italy and Europe.
Research has revealed that there is nitrosamine inside the drug, and this compound, in high quantities, can be harmful. However, Pfitzer explained that if it is not taken in massive doses, it has no particular effect. In a widespread note, the company has in fact specified that nitrosamine is also common “in water and food, including cured meats, grilled meats, dairy products and vegetables”.
“A voluntary decision” and taken “in advance”, explains Pfitzer and not imposed by the competent health authorities. Now, in the United States and Puerto Rico, an information circular warns doctors and pharmacists who handled Accupril shipments to contact the pharmaceutical company. The goal is for people not to use those products that are thought to be carcinogenic for a long time.
Pfizer has put in place a real communication campaign to explain that no alarmism should be created. In fact, at the moment, no incidents have been reported. Taking the pill immediately would pose no risk. But, in the United States and Puerto Rico, people with hypertension and using the medicine every day should check with their doctor to see if the Accupril pill may be of benefit or harm over time.
