The prices for gas, electricity and heating are skyrocketing. That is why the call for government intervention is getting louder and louder. Otherwise a hard winter threatens.
Berlin – Energy costs are rising faster than they have been in 28 years. The German Tenants’ Association and the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations have therefore now sounded the alarm and called for government countermeasures. Otherwise there is a risk of an “additional costs explosion” in the coming year, quoted the news agency dpa from a joint appeal by the associations. Fast and effective measures are necessary, which must protect low-income households in particular from the price hikes in electricity, gas or petrol.
Since the beginning of the year, energy costs have risen sharply in all areas. According to the Check24 portal, heating costs in Germany alone rose by 33 percent in September compared to the previous year. But government intervention is limited. Many politicians are now looking to Brussels to get the problem under control, at least in the medium to long term, as a report by Kreiszeitung.de shows. * Kreiszeitung.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
