Petrobras informed, in clarification of recent news involving the company, that “there is no definition” regarding the implementation and the amount of participation in any programs and that any decision will be “subject to the approval governance and in accordance with the company’s internal policies ”.
In an interview with Programa do Ratinho, on SBT, last night, President Jair Bolsonaro stated that the state-owned company has a reserve of R$ 3 billion to fund the gas voucher for the needy population. “(Joaquim) Silva e Luna has a reserve of R$ 3 billion to really serve those most in need. It would be the equivalent – which is being studied so far – of a gas canister every two months”, he said.
The oil company also claims that it has already distributed R$ 10.3 billion in dividends throughout 2021. Of this amount, the company adds, R$ 3 billion were allocated to its controlling shareholder. “Furthermore, from January to June 2021, its contribution to Brazilian society, in the form of taxes paid by the company and withheld from third parties, was BRL 76.7 billion, an amount BRL 14.1 billion higher than the same period in 2020”, adds the company in a note.
Petrobras concludes by stating that it continues to adopt the practice of selling prices in balance with competing markets. Sensitive to the social impact of cooking gas (LPG), which actively contributes to discussions within the Ministry of Mines and Energy regarding possible programs aimed at vulnerable families.
