CDMX.- Gustavo Petro, President of Colombia, postponed his trip to Mexico to attend the inauguration of Claudia Shienbaum as President, because he will attend a military helicopter accident that left eight dead.

This Sunday, eight members of the Colombian Armed Forces died when the helicopter in which they were traveling on a humanitarian mission in the Department of Vichada crashed to the ground. Petro’s arrival was scheduled at 11:00 a.m. today at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), in Zumpango, State of Mexico.
This morning, Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of Cuba, arrived at AIFA, where he was received by the next Secretary of Health, David Kersenobich.
In the afternoon, around 5:00 p.m., Lula Da Silva, President of Brazil, is expected to arrive. Next Tuesday, at 9:00 a.m., Sheinbaum will take her oath as President in a Congressional session ceremony at the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro, where, in addition to deputies and senators, 930 special guests will be present. The Foreign Ministry invited all countries to the investiture, except for Ecuador and Peru, nations with which the federal government broke diplomatic relations. Furthermore, a few days ago the Spanish Government reported that it will not send any representative to Sheinbaum’s inauguration because he was excluded from the official invitation to King Felipe VI. For the United States, representing President Joe Biden, his wife Jill Biden will attend, accompanied by Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security. According to the President-elect’s team, 106 countries and 22 international organizations confirmed their attendance at the official event.
