Peter Feldmann goes to the Federal Constitutional Court

Peter Feldmann, the former mayor of Frankfurt, wants to go to the Federal Constitutional Court to defend himself against his conviction in the corruption trial. This was reported by the “Hessenschau” on Thursday evening. Feldmann contacted Hessischer Rundfunk in an email.

The reason for this is said to be that the Federal Court of Justice did not allow Feldmann’s appeal against the judgment before the Frankfurt Regional Court. According to Feldmann, there should have been no trial date.

Convicted of taking advantage

The voted-out local politician was convicted in December 2022 in the “AWO trial” before the Frankfurt regional court for taking advantage in two cases. The long-time SPD politician wanted to defend himself against this with an appeal before the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe. Feldmann said he was “not corrupt”.

Feldmann explained to the “Hessenschau” that the judgment against him, just like the non-admission of the appeal, was based exclusively on “hearsay”. His lawyer and friends advised him to continue to legally defend himself against the conviction.
