American tennis player Jessica Pegula expressed her complete satisfaction with what she presented during her journey in the women’s singles competition at the US Open Tennis Championship “Flashing Meadows” this year.
Pegula lost 7-5, 7-5 to Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka in the final of the tournament, which was held in New York City, the American player’s hometown.
“It was an incredible time, standing here in my first Grand Slam final, I didn’t expect it,” Pegula said after the match.
“I’m really grateful for the last few weeks of the tournament, which has seen some great matches that I’ve been able to win,” Pegula added in her comments, as reported by the British news agency (PAID Media).
“I wish Sabalenka would have allowed me to win at least one set,” the American explained. “We had a tough match a few weeks ago.”
“Sabalenka is the best hard court player in the world, so I knew it would be a tough match,” Pegula concluded.
The loss ended Pegula’s dreams of winning her first Grand Slam title in front of an American crowd at the tournament. Pegula enjoyed a huge crowd on Arthur Ashe Stadium, but she was unable to tame Sabalenka’s power and squandered her chance to win at least the second set, which she was close to winning.
