“Spain has all the necessary administrative and fiscal incentives, in addition to all the possible landscapes, to receive new projects and create new narratives. We aspire to become, if you allow us to compare, the Hollywood of Europe,” he said.
Sánchez’s words came after a meeting that maintained with heads of Netflix, HBO, WarnerMedia, Disney and Activision within the second stage of his economic tour of the United States, which will end on Friday with a visit to several technology companies located in the San Francisco area.
“The information and entertainment platforms have become the window from which millions of people look into a new reality. They have revolutionized entertainment,” he said.
The president gave an example of the international success of national productions, such as “La Casa de Papel” and “Elite”, as well as foreign fictions such as “Game Of Thrones”, whose filming has boosted tourism in parts of the Basque Country and will return to Spain in autumn to film his prequel, “House of the Dragon”.
Spain seeks to take advantage of the Brexit “gap”
Pedro Sánchez added he wants to take advantage of the Brexit situation to overtake the United Kingdom in the audiovisual career and, therefore, celebrated that ViacomCBS (owner of Paramount) has moved its production center from London to Madrid.

Sánchez began his schedule in Los Angeles with a visit to NASA’s JPL Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The objective was to promote Spanish technology in the aerospace field, to which the Spanish government intends to pay special attention with specific projects within the aforementioned Recovery Plan.
Accompanied by the Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, the head of the Spanish government toured the control center of the laboratory, responsible for the last missions to Mars.
