Fermín Aldeguer finishes 16th in the first race of the season, won by Celestino Vietti
It was not the dream debut for Pedro Acosta in Moto2, but positive conclusions can be drawn from Losail. After a fall during qualifying on Saturday and a poor start in Sunday’s race, which left him in penultimate place, he came back to reach the points zone. ‘El Tiburón’ from Mazarrón finished 12th. A few positions ahead of Fermín Aldeguer, who was 16th. The Italian Celestino Vietti won the Qatar Grand Prix, accompanied on the podium by Arón Canet and Sam Lowes, second and third respectively.
Acosta started heavily penalized for his poor start. He started 10th, but was relegated to the back of the race in the first corners. However, he showed that in his new category he is also capable of executing great comebacks like the ones that gave him the Moto3 title.
From the first laps, the man from Mazarrón was giving bites to the pilots who came in his way. He got rid of more than 10 rivals until he reached a twelfth position that allowed him to tie up at least 4 points in his debut. On the other hand, Aldeguer leaves empty, because he was only one place behind in the points.
Ana Carrasco, twentieth
Ana Carrasco, the only woman on the World Cup starting grid, also premiered this Sunday. On her return to Moto3, the ceheginera had a difficult challenge in the race, as she started from far behind. Finally, she finished in the twentieth position. In any case, it is only the beginning. The season has just started for the three Murcians.
