Why Cillian Murphy Couldn’t Be Tommy Shelby
According to the media Spoiler Bolavip, the creator of “Peaky blinders”, Steven Knight, would have put two points against the actor. The first was that he did not have the bearing of a gangster and, especially, the one that the character demanded. Given this, Murphy decided to change his vegetarian diet and go back to eating meat in order to get more protein and achieve the physique of Tommy Shelby.
The second point would have been his height. For the showrunner, the fact that the actor was 175 cm was not enough. However, the physical change that he achieved made him end up being attractive for the role, thus becoming the leader of the Blinders.
