The long-awaited finale of Peaky Blinders aired on BBC One on Sunday, March 4, leaving fans with mixed feelings for the emotional, yet satisfying end to the family.
The latest installment of the popular drama was a surprise, to say the least, as it changed the fate of Tommy Shelby. With several plot twists and major deaths, it’s fair to say that the series said goodbye to television in a big way. Next, we detail how the end of this popular fiction was.

Tommy escaped from everything: from the fascists, from his enemies and now even from death. In the final chapter of Peaky Blinders Season 6, it was revealed that he received a false diagnosis and did not actually have a life-threatening illness.
The final episode saw Michael out of jail, out for revenge and of course hot on Tommy’s trail. However, just as he tries to blow up the gang leader Shelby, Johnny comes to the rescue and Tommy ends up shooting his cousin.
Viewers also saw how Arthur avenged Polly’s death by killing her assassin, IRA boss ‘Captain’ Swing, and Duke Shelby by taking down Billy Grade.
The truth behind Tommy’s disease
Towards the end of the episode, we saw Tommy preparing to end his life, having previously learned that he is suffering from a deadly disease.
When Tommy is about to shoot himself while standing in a funeral trailer, the image of his dead daughter, Ruby, visits him and tells him that he “must live” and that he is not really sick, it was all a hoax. He complains to the doctor who diagnosed him. While fans waited for him to kill him, he spares his life.
The final shot sees Tommy walking away from his burning trailer, set on fire by Curly, who believed he was dead.

While the sixth episode spells the end of Peaky Blinders as we know it, fans can look forward to the show’s return in the form of a movie, which was confirmed by the series creator. Fans expect Cillian Murphy and Paul Anderson to return to play their roles as Tommy and Arthur Shelby. A spin off is also a possibility.
