an unexpected choreography
Director James Gunn, along with John Cena, Jennifer Holland and other cast members, spoke with the Newsgeek portal about the hilarious choreography.
Initially, some were able to understand the idea of the filmmaker, while others did not consider it logical that his characters had to dance.
“Some of them got it right away. You know Jen Holland [Emilia Harcourt] he understood immediately. and Steve [John Economos], too. They’ve both known me for a long time,” Gunn said.

On the other hand, those who had complications at first were Danielle Brooks [Leota Adebayo] and John Cena [Peacemaker], who were not very excited about the idea of choreography.
Gunn recounted that Brooks’s reaction was to not understand what was going on at all and that he walked into the room saying: “James, you’re telling me to dance like this. What’s that?”.
Similarly, Cena also felt some pressure and worked on his dance steps to give his best, despite not being very passionate about those types of scenes.

Dance without smiling
But the most difficult part for all the actors was not the movements, but having to keep serious while dancing.
Gunn didn’t want anyone to smile, so because it was a funny sequence, the actors had to make an effort to look like robots.
“The biggest problem was that people kept smiling and James had to say, ‘Okay, we’re going to accept it. Again, do it again. Danielle, don’t smile this time, keep smiling,’” Steve Agee recounted.

James also said that the scene was recorded in a high school auditorium and that the filming lasted only one day.
The final result left the actors happy, especially John Cena. “What a wonderful moment when someone says: ‘I’m satisfied with the opening credits scene‘” said the protagonist of the series.
