President Biden has presented a three-stage plan for peace in the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu, however, rejects the plan.
Washington DC – President Joe Biden proposes a three-stage peace plan in the war between the radical Islamic Hamas and Israel. The surprising proposal came just a day after his rival Donald Trump was found guilty in a New York courtroom.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Meanwhile, Biden’s proposal was described as a “fallacy”. Israel Biden’s plan seems to fall on deaf ears. Netanyahu rejects any agreement that does not include all of his goals, such as the complete destruction of the Hamas militias and leadership in GazaNetanyahu had previously called for a “total victory” over Hamas and thus justified his highly controversial ground offensive against the city of Rafah.
Hamas was cooperative in the face of Biden’s proposal and welcomed a possible ceasefire. The Gaza terrorist organization demanded a ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army (IDF), and an “exchange of prisoners,” as the New York Times reported.
International Court of Justice issues a bombshell on the war in Israel: immediate stop to Rafah offensive
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) had previously called on Israel on Friday (May 24) to stop the ground offensive against Rafah. Thousands of Palestinians have found refuge in the city after Netanyahu launched the ground offensive in the north of the Gaza Strip. The court’s ruling states that Israel should “immediately cease its military offensive and any other action in the Rafah administrative district.”
Biden’s address on the situation in the Middle East on Friday (June 1) was the president’s first since an Israeli airstrike on Rafah killed at least 45 people, including women and children. At least 249 others were injured in a refugee camp, Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry said. According to a New York Times According to research, US bombs were used for the attack.
Biden with Hamas-Israel peace plan: Three-stage model for rebuilding the Gaza Strip
Biden described the images of the airstrike as “horrific” – the president had previously threatened to stop all military support for Israel if Netanyahu continued his offensive against the city of Rafah. Biden then presented his three-stage plan. First, there would be a six-week ceasefire, followed by a withdrawal of all IDF troops from the densely populated areas of the Gaza Strip. In addition, all elderly and female Hamas prisoners would be released. In return, Israel would release hundreds of detained Palestinians – at least that was the plan.
In the next phase, all other Israeli hostages are to be released, including the soldiers. Once all hostages are released, all IDF troops are to withdraw from the Gaza Strip – something that Netanyahu finds inconceivable so far. Finally, in the third phase, the remains on both sides are to be exchanged. The Gaza Strip is then to be rebuilt by the USA, Europe and international institutions within three to five years.
Israel has so far rejected the plan – Netanyahu clearly: “Destruction of Hamas”
So far, the Israeli government has hardly planned for the day after. Netanyahu himself and many of his government partners, some of whom are right-wing radicals, completely reject a Palestinian Authority in partnership with the Arab neighboring countries in the Gaza Strip. Thus, there seems to be no end to the War in Israel in sight. Israel’s goals remain unchanged, as Netanyahu’s official government account on X announced.
“Israel’s conditions for ending the war have not changed: the destruction of Hamas’ military and governance capabilities, the release of all hostages, and ensuring that the Gaza Strip no longer poses a threat to Israel.” (sure)
