Supporter of the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, writer Paulo Coelho said that he regrets having committed himself to the PT campaign in 2022 and stated that his term at the head of the federal government is “pathetic”. In a demonstration on Twitter, Coelho argued that Lula’s altercations with Senator Sérgio Moro (União Brasil-PR) and criticism of the Central Bank are not signs of good management.
“Decades supporting @LulaOficial, I notice that his new mandate is pathetic. Falling into the trap of disqualified ex-judge, inability to solve BC problem, etc. I shouldn’t have joined the campaign. I lost readers (is part) but I don’t see my vote being worth it”, he wrote this Sunday, March 26, on the social network.
In the last week, Lula was involved in a series of controversies after saying that he thought about taking revenge on Moro when he was arrested. The president also discredited an operation by the Federal Police to dismantle a plan by the First Command of the Capital (PCC) against the former Lava Jato judge and said that the suspicions are a “framework”.
In less than three months of government, Lula accumulates a series of distorted and contested speeches that led to accusations from opponents and criticism even among allies.
The statements take place at a time when the President of the Republic is still struggling to form a support base in Congress and has not managed to make a mark on the government’s agenda.
Lula also leads a crusade against the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto. He questions the policy adopted by the monetary authority, pushing for a reduction in interest rates and motivating allies to make public criticism.
This is not the first time that Paulo Coelho has criticized Lula’s communication. In May 2022, Coelho stated that Lula’s “verbal incontinence” could lead to the re-election of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). At the time, the writer demanded a reformulation of the PT’s communication and greater investment in social networks.
Coelho is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters (ABL) and is one of the most internationally known Brazilian writers. Author of best-selling works such as The Alchemist, The Diary of a Mage It is 11 minuteshe has sold more than 320 million books, translated into about 83 languages.
