New sensitive decline for Spanish tennis at the Mutua Madrid Open. Yesterday the absence of Carlos Alcaraz was confirmed and this Thursday has been Paula Badosa who has announced his withdrawal in the Magic Box due to his persistent back problems.
The tennis player herself communicated it through her social networks: “Unfortunately, I will not be able to play in this tournament. I have tried to do everything possible until the last moment because you know the illusion that makes me play at home, but it is being a complicated injury. I hope to be 100% soon.”

Badosa, currently in the ninth position of the WTA ranking with 3,821 points, drags this ailment for several months, an injury that has already forced her to give up important tournaments such as Indian Wells and that has conditioned her calendar this 2025.
His last game was played on March 18, when he beat Danish Clara Tauson in the second round of Miami 1000 Masters. That meeting, however, turned on the alarms again when receiving medical care during the duel for a pain in the back. Minutes before facing the Filipina Alexandra Eala in the round of 16, he decided to retire from the tournament.
Nor could he compete in Indian Wells, where he prioritized his recovery process. In Miami he had surpassed the Canadian Victoria Mboko and Danes herself before having to stop again.
