The general secretary of UGT Extremadura, Patrocinio Sánchez, will present her candidacy to be re-elected at the Regional Congress to be held next March, as reported at the VII Regional Committee meeting this Friday in Mérida.
Furthermore, at the Committee meeting an emergency resolution has been unanimously approved in which UGT regrets the tragedy and expresses solidarity with the victims and those affected by DANA in several regions, mainly in the Valencian Community.
In said resolution, the union has evaluated the first aid package approved by the Government on November 5, which responds to many of the demands that the union had formulated and that must be “complemented with subsequent others that contribute to the return to relative normality of the population and the productive fabric.”
In this sense, UGT has considered this new social shield worth more than 10.6 billion euros and has demanded administrative agility in the management of aid, for which it has demanded the “immediate reinforcement” of staff in health, social, employment and social security services, in order to that the foreseeable increase in requests and actions in each of them can be adequately addressed.
Likewise, it has insisted on the need to review urban planning policies and civil protection protocols and has stated that “it is not acceptable that irresponsibility and negligence are always paid for by the working class,” the union stressed in a press release.
Finally, UGT Extremadura has urged unity and the mobilization of the public resources necessary for the reconstruction of damages, the reparation of victims and the progress of society “under the democratic principles of the Rule of Law.”
“It is time to do justice to the victims, there will be time to demand responsibilities and solutions that avoid in the future consequences as dramatic as those suffered by thousands of Spanish families, especially in the Valencia Community,” concluded the emergency resolution approved in the VII Regional Committee of UGT Extremadura.
