Human creativity and ingenuity are practically boundless and for this very reason it has been possible to succeed create a myriad of inventions, among which some particularly extravagant ones can be found. Although the inventors had tried to obtain patentsthe general public did not actually agree and as a result they soon fell into oblivion.
Inventions and patents: here are the ones that didn’t make history
The first of the most absurd patents is called The Rolling Ball: it was an attempt to move people on a rotating ball, complete with an engine, with the idea of revolutionizing longer journeys across the ocean. The idea which was registered in 1936 obviously did not have much success, also because a similar object it doesn’t convey security at alldo not you think?
Speaking of safety, another invention that was patented was a sort of alarm clock that turned out to look more like an torture device. In fact, according to the inventor of this tool, whenever the sound of the alarm clock stopped, if the unfortunate person who had to get up had not yet turned it off, light wooden planks would be released directly on his face, in such a way as to wake him up. Certainly.
A very particular invention was also brought into the field of studies, namely the periscopeglasses lenses. These glasses were supposed to help people be able to read while maintaining a horizontal posture, therefore remaining lying down, so as not to have to strain their neck and consequently not feel back pain. Simply put, these lenses should have project the text at a 90° angle directly towards the eyes of the reader.
Another item that never achieved success was the Serra helmeti.e. a full-fledged helmet which completely covered the head and part of the neck and which was supposed to give anyone wearing it the possibility of breathing much cleaner oxygen, given that it would have been produced directly by of the plants placed inside of the helmet itself.
Finally, one of the most absurd latest patents not to be forgotten was designed for anyone who had a small pet and it is a t-shirt called Gerbil Shirt. In this shirt there were tubes and compartments that were used to carry with you their rodents so that they could be taken out of the house for a sort of walk.
And these are only a few of the strangest patents and inventions, given that there are also more modern ones, such as slippers for sweeping, glasses for looking over your shoulder, umbrellas for shoes and much more. In your opinion, which of these patents is the most absurd?
