Parliament|Vornanen justifies the tightening of security measures in the parliament by the fact that environmental activists knocked over the pillars of the parliament a couple of weeks ago.
Congressman Timo Vornanen sent a press release on Friday in which he demands a quick update of the legislation related to the security measures of the parliament.
Vornanen justifies his demand by the fact that a couple of weeks ago the protesters knocked over the pillars in front of the parliament. In addition, banners have been smuggled into the parliament’s plenary hall and pieces of paper have been thrown around MPs’ necks in the past.
“In my opinion, such events show that the legislation related to the security measures of the parliament, the powers of the security personnel and the control equipment used at work are not up to date. This issue needs a quick fix,” Vornanen writes in his announcement.
In April At the end of a bar evening in the center of Helsinki, Vornanen pointed a gun at two people and shot them to the ground. As a result of the events, Vornanen was separated from Basic Finns and he founded his own, one-man parliamentary group.
Due to the night’s events, Vorna is suspected of illegal threats, causing danger, a firearms offense and a firearms violation.
The preliminary police investigation was completed in the summer. In the preliminary investigation, it was found that Vornanen has stored a weapon in his office in violation of the rules of the parliament on two occasions.
Vornanen’s suspected crimes are currently under prosecution.
Vornasen according to the parliament’s security measures law should be reformed, because it is from 2008 and is behind its time.
Vornanen would like the parliament’s security staff to be guaranteed sufficient authority to carry out the necessary security measures. In addition, the surveillance and force-use equipment at their disposal should be updated.
