The 80th edition of Paris-Nice ends with the title, as expected, from the Slovenian, Primoz Roglic, who on the road confirmed that of the participating cyclists he was the strongest.
Colombia gets a good balance. The result is in accordance with the real conditions of cycling in the country and its protagonists, that when you are in front of figures like Roglic you have to fight for the podium.

Daniel Martínez became the benchmark man, although Nairo Quintana came from two titles, in the Tour de la Provence and in the Tour des Alpes-Maritimeswithout a doubt that the Ineos runner was strong to fight higher up.
Betancur led the way
Martínez’s third place on the podium clearly shows that he has taken an important step in his aspirations to obtain a place among the Ineos leaders, even more so when Egan Bernal is still recovering from the accident on January 2.
Martínez becomes the seventh Colombian cyclist to finish in one of the three main drawers of the French competition, today a luxury that few can afford.
The country’s cycling has three titles in this race, all with different protagonists: Carlos Betancur won in 2014, Sergio Luis Henao did it in 2017 and Egan Bernal in 2019.
Nairo was second in the 2019 edition, when he escorted Bernal, while Sergio Higuita finished third in 2020, when the champion was Maximilian Schachmann.
Santiago Botero was third in the 1999 edition, when Michael Googerd won and the second was Markus Zberg.
The history of Colombia in Paris-Nice is rich, in terms of titles and podiums, and there are already seven cyclists who have been able to finish in the top three of the competition.
