The famous Parisian monument, whose operating company was recapitalized by 60 million euros to face a deficit of about 120 million euros, accumulated during the two years of crisis, it can accommodate up to 13 thousand people a day. Before the pandemic, the monument received about 25,000 daily visitors.
The elevators of the “Iron Lady” will once again lift tourists 300 meters to its summit, marking the end of its long inactivity due to the covid-19 pandemic.
However, its daily capacity will be limited to 13 thousand people, half the normal level, to respect social distance.
Starting next Wednesday, visitors must show proof of vaccination or negative test for covid-19, in accordance with government requirements.
“Obviously it is an additional operational complication, but it is manageable,” Jean-François Martins, head of the operating company, told AFP.
After a final round of security checks, Martins announced that “the lady ‘is ready.”
