Paris 2024, Stano-Palmisano in 6th place in the walking relay. The Italian: “I got Covid”
“I got Covid, we kept everyone in the dark, I was monitored and isolated so as not to infect my teammates. I knew I was lacking strength but I was better than on August 1st, the day of the 20 km. I told myself let’s give it our all, it couldn’t get any worse. The first part I even did well. In the second I felt the condition but I know I gave it my all”. Antonella Palmisano spoke to Rai Sport after finishing sixth in the mixed walking relay at the Paris Olympics.
Physical conditions were not at their best also for his racing partner Massimo Stano: “In the first fraction I didn’t have any particular discomfort in my ankle, but I was scared. Then the physiotherapists told me to stay calm, and I pushed in the second half. I gave my all, as Antonella and I said at the beginning of the race. We can’t reproach ourselves for anything. In Ita’s place we could have written “lame” on the jersey”.
