Paralympics Three-time Paralympic gold medalist declares support for Russia and praises soldiers as heroes

Nikolai Poluhin says he is proud of Russia’s actions.

Russian the attack on Ukraine and the continuation of hostilities are receiving harsh criticism from athletes across the board, and only Russian athletes continue in their own camp.

Most recently, Russia’s actions in Ukraine were praised by a three-time Paralympic gold medalist Nikolai Poluhin.

Poluhin and his teammates did not get into real action at the Beijing Paralympics because Russia was excluded from the Games because of the start of the war. Poluhin said he waited for the race for eight years.

“We were already in China when everything changed unexpectedly. Many received the news with bitterness in their souls and tears in their eyes,” Poluhin commented. In a press release from the Russian Paralympic Committee.

Path also commented on Russia’s actions in Ukraine, but did not mention the word war or attack once.

“We are proud of our country and we sympathize with all decisions in Ukraine.”

“We support our army! We are proud of our soldiers and officers, they are heroes to us. I always support my country as an athlete, champion, citizen and father. I am Russian and proud of it. ”

Russia is barred from all sports, and additional sanctions threaten individual athletes who support the war. For example, a gymnast Ivan Kuliak may be banned for a long time after appearing in his chest in support of Russia’s military action in the Doha World Cup.
