The Brazilian Nathan Torquato defeated the Japanese Mitsuya Tanaka by 58 to 24 in the quarterfinals of parataekwondo at the Paralympics in Tokyo (Japan). Now the São Paulo native goes to the semifinals, where he will face the Italian Antonino Bossolo from 6:15 am (Brasilia time) this Thursday (2) at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center.
Before the triumph over the athlete from Japan, Nathan had already defeated Parfait Hakizimana, athlete of the refugee team, on Wednesday night (1) by 27-4.
In January, the Brazilian was chosen by Portal Mundo Taekwondo as the best of the Americas in 2020. Nathan is a K44 class fighter, for athletes with arm amputations.
