Maciel Santos defeated Hiu Lam Yeung, from Hong Kong, in the quarterfinals of the Paralympic bocce ball by scoring 6-5 on the night of the last Monday (30th) at the Paralympics in Tokyo (Japan). Now, he faces the Japanese Hidetaka Sugimura in the semifinal, which happens at 5:15 am this Tuesday (31).

Practiced by athletes with a high degree of cerebral palsy or severe disabilities, Paralympic bocce consists of throwing colored balls as close as possible to a white ball.
Athletes are seated in wheelchairs and limited to a demarcated space to take shots. It is allowed to use the hands, feet and aids, and have helpers (gravels), in the case of athletes with greater impairment of limb movement.
