Paralympic athlete swims for 12 hours and collects 1.5 tons of food in Veracruz

An act of good faith can achieve too much, such is the case of Omar Osorioa Paralympic athlete who swam for twelve hours in order to raise food as part of a good cause at the “Unidos Somos Casa Santa Ana” home in Boca del Río, Veracruz.

This Friday, from 8 in the morning until 8 at nightthe athlete swam constantly with the aim of raise 10 tons of food and basic necessities for low-income families.

The protagonist of this solidarity day was Omar Osorio, a prominent Paralympic athlete originally from Córdoba, Veracruz. Osorio is known for his commitment and tenacity and on this occasion managed to collect 1.5 tons of food.

Food is for grandparents, violated women and low-income families

The products collected will be used to prepare pantries that will be distributed among the most needy families in the region.

The food collection was carried out from 8 in the morning to 8 at night, during which time the swimmer remained in the pool, closely monitored by a medical team that monitored his vital signs and ensured his constant condition. hydration

The donation of staples such as rice, sugar, milk, beans, canned foods, water, oil, and coffee.

The event had the participation and support of parish priest Guillermo Ramírez Martínez, from the parish of Santa Ana in Boca del Río, who highlighted the importance of the “Marathon of Unity – 12 hours swimming” campaign as a crucial initiative to attract attention and support from the community towards the Casa Santa Ana shelter.

This shelter is dedicated to providing assistance to older people, women in situations of violence and low-income familiesdelivering up to 270 meals per month.

Although the goal was to collect 10 tons of food, at the end of the event more than 1.5 tons were collected. However, the community and organizers considered the effort a significant success, as the marathon not only raised food, but also raised awareness about the importance of supporting the most vulnerable.

Omar Osorio’s dedication and effort did not go unnoticed, and his feat of swimming for 12 continuous hours became a symbol of solidarity and social commitment. The “Unidos Somos Casa Santa Ana” campaign hopes to continue receiving donations and support from the community to continue its work of assistance to those who need it most.
