Brazilian midfielder would have forced yellow cards in 4 English league matches
Lucas Paquetá, Brazilian midfielder for West Hamwill have a hearing in March 2025 on an allegation of betting-related misconduct. THE FAN (England Football Association) will investigate his conduct in 4 matches of the Premier League between November 2022 and August 2023, as reported by the newspaper The Sun.
The FA’s complaint states that Paquetá forced yellow cards in games against Leicester City, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Bournemouth. This would violate Rule E5.1, which prohibits influencing the outcome, progress or conduct of games for improper purposes. He is also accused of failing to cooperate with the investigation.
Since August 2023, investigations have raised concerns about the integrity of the sport and the impact on Paquetá’s career. Rumors indicate that the suspicion jeopardized a possible transfer to Manchester City. In the current season, Lucas Paquetá scored just 1 goal.
West Ham have supported the player during this period. The hearing is scheduled to take place during the 2024/2025 Premier League season, which increases uncertainty about the availability of Paquetá for future matches, who is currently in 12th place in England’s main football championship.
