Twenty peñas will tour the Parra promenade tonight in the first parade of comparsas
The Antonio Cortijos square hosted last night the paper suits and body makeup gala, an act that served to kick off the 2022 Carnival events. The programming, postponed due to the incidence of Covid that occurred last February , arrives in the middle of summer to captivate neighbors, vacationers and visitors. During the contest, the carnival goers showed the public four paper suits that left no one indifferent due to their size and the colors they mixed. Some 1,200 people attended this event, which served as a prelude to today’s big parade (9:30 p.m.), which will run along Paseo Parra until it reaches Icarus, a monument dedicated to this festival. Tomorrow, Sunday, the second procession will be held.
The City Council also held the Local Security Board, to coordinate the device on the occasion of the festivities. A total of 30 Civil Guard agents will participate in the operation, ensuring, together with members of the Local Police, Civil Protection and firefighters, the safety of all those attending the events.
Cleaning and sale of chairs
Aspects related to mobility were announced at the meeting, which include traffic closures on the streets through which the parades run from 5:00 p.m. today, tomorrow and on Saturday 30. The local government has enabled various areas of parking in Juan Pablo II, Andrés Segovia and Almudena Grandes streets, the fairgrounds, the Águilas Plaza shopping center and the El Hornillo multiplexes.
With regard to the sale of chairs for processions, they can be purchased from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the three booths located next to the Ícaro, Muebles San José and La Caixa, all located on the parade route. “Once the parade has started, it will also be possible to buy seats,” recalls the Consistory, which will launch a special cleaning reinforcement.
