The accident occurred on the carousel known as “calcinculo,” characterized by seats hanging from long chains that rotate while participants try to grab a trophy, in this case a ball, to get a free ride.

The cause of the collapse seems to be linked to the reckless action of some kids, who did not respect the safety regulations safety. The iron pole that supported the balloon lost stability while the attraction was in operation, causing the boys to fall. The rescue response was immediate, with the injured being transported to the emergency room, where doctors diagnosed a head trauma and various fractures. After the necessary treatment, fortunately, both boys were discharged.

Local police officers and the Gallipoli police station promptly arrived at the scene of the incident and are conducting investigations to clarify the exact dynamics of the incident. The authorities are evaluating all hypotheses, including that of the failure to comply with safety regulations by those attending the ride.

This episode highlights once again the need for rigorous safety checks at amusement parks. Compliance with regulations by all can prevent fun situations from turning into tragedies.
