What’s up with clothing from the far north lately? After Scandinavia (Rukka, Halvarssons, Lindstrands etc.) the Baltic States are now also posing as high-tech suppliers of motor gear, in this case Pando Moto. The brand, which specializes in casual clothing and in particular motorcycle jeans, has been working for about ten years now and has undergone significant development, especially in recent times. Time for a closer inspection.
I’ve been driving around with the for a few weeks now Boss Dyn 01, a pair of jeans of the ‘slim fit’ type. Not too tight, but ‘smart’ enough to prevent annoying flapping on the highway. The fit is great and although the pants look quite casual, they have taken safety seriously at Pando Moto. The Boss Dyn-01 has an AAA+ status thanks to the Kevlar-reinforced Cordura construction.
The interior is extra reinforced on the vulnerable areas (including the buttocks, knees) with a special ‘Interlock’ stitching that, according to the description, is 15 times stronger than steel. That sounds like roaring PR, but when we consider the 92 meters of sliding distance that these pants successfully passed during tests, it does have a positive effect on my peace of mind.
Extra protectors for knees and hips are supplied in a separate bag and can be put in the designated ‘pockets’. This makes the pants a little less flattering, but it is of course better in terms of safety. The best thing is that, despite these sturdy safety features, the Boss Dyn 01 does not feel like a medieval harness, but is remarkably comfortable, partly due to the built-in stretch. Not the cheapest pants on the market; but in terms of looks, comfort and (intended) safety it is one of the better – if not best – that I have worn so far.
