After the risk of a new suspension of the vaccination schedule in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio de Janeiro mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD), used his social networks on Sunday to thank the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, for confirming the delivery of vaccines to the State. According to the mayor, the vaccination schedule in Rio is guaranteed this week.
Queiroga announced NP Saturday that the state will receive 5% more vaccines against covid-19 to combat the advance of the delta variant in the state.
“Thank you Minister Queiroga. I just found out that the vaccine is shipping in São Paulo and coming to Rio! Our calendar guaranteed this week! Let’s Vaccinate! Guys of 26 prepare the arm for tomorrow. We are in the final stretch!”, published the mayor on his social networks.
On Saturday, the municipal secretary of Health, Daniel Soranz, had published a warning that if the Ministry did not send the immunizers to the state on the same day, Rio could have to suspend its schedule for the second time in less than a month, due to to delays.
Paes shared Soranz’s publication highlighting the importance of distribution and the positive result of the vaccines already applied. “Once again we make this public appeal to the Ministry of Health. I heard that there are even a lot of Coronavac from Butantan stored there. Let’s distribute. Only 5% of those hospitalized in Rio received the vaccine. In other words, they work and SAVE LIVES! #boradistribuir”, he published.
This Sunday, in Botucatu (SP), Queiroga declared that there is no damming of vaccines in Brazil. According to him, vaccines may be lacking “eventually”, if local secretariats do not reserve doses, but not for lack of referral from the ministry. “As soon as (the vaccine) arrives (in Brazil), we try to release it. Occasionally, when the speed of vaccination in the municipality is high, it may be that one day there will be a lack of a dose”, said Queiroga.
The government of Rio had asked the Ministry of Health for a 20% increase in the total number of vaccines sent. Last Wednesday, 4, the Forum of Governors reinforced the request. The capital of Rio de Janeiro is considered a gateway for foreigners in Brazil.
