Kevin Magnussen all in all he came out happy from the Austin circuit. The Dane brought Haas back to the points, giving the team some respite, among other things in the home race. The result – 8th place awaiting the Alpine appeal decision – could have been even better, had K-Mag not lost the battle with Sebastian Vettel.
The clash of the last lap of the United States Grand Prix was beautiful and very correct. To tell the truth Magnussen was in crisis with the tires, which had 38 laps of life against the 15 of those mounted by the Aston Martin driver. The overtaking outside by the German, however, becomes one of the most beautiful of the year, both for preparation and for execution. Jenson Button even defined it one of the most beautiful maneuvers ever in the history of Formula 1, because it was built outside a high-speed corner: if Magnussen had skidded it would have sent Vettel to the wall at 250 km / h.

Magnussen himself paid tribute to Vettel in the words of the post-race: “Of course, I’m sorry I lost a position to Sebastian. I have to say he drove great, ein that moment you understand why he is a four-time world champion. As disappointed as he may be with the defeat in this battle, it was incredible to experience it. The strategy we put in place was the result of the team’s guidance. For such a small team, being able to battle in this way is fantastic“.
