The new Oura Ring 4 improves precision and comfort, while the completely redesigned app offers improved functionality with health and wellness features.
Oura has revealed its new Oura Ring 4an evolution of the popular smart ring that introduces thinner sensors, greater precision and an improved design. With a starting price of $349 and expected availability starting October 15, the new Oura Ring arrives with important hardware and software updates, along with a completely redesigned app to better manage the new features.
Oura Ring 4: Improved technology and new design
At first glance, theOura Ring 4 It might look similar to the previous model, but it has some really interesting changes. Made entirely in titanium To ensure greater resistance, the new ring is completely round (eliminating the flat edge present on some previous models). Furthermore, the internal sensors, which were previously a bit protruding, are now recessed, ensuring a more comfortable profile and optimal adherence to the finger, reducing the risk of chafing.
One of the most obvious problems on devices of this kind is the movement of the ring during the day, which can affect the accuracy of the data. For this reason Oura Ring 4 passes by eight to eighteen signal pathsautomatically selecting the best one to obtain more reliable data. According to Oura, this translates into a 120% increase of the signal quality and in a 30% improvement in the accuracy of blood oxygenation monitoring.
A redesigned app and new features
However, the update does not only arrive for the device, but also for the app that manages it. It now has three main sections: Today, Vitals And My Health. The first shows a dynamic overview that changes based on the time and the user’s health goals, the second allows you to explore biometric metrics and scores in more depth. The latter instead focuses on long-term trends, offering a clearer picture of the evolution of health status.
Among the new features, the automatic activity monitoring for 40 different types of activities and time window predictions useful for those who are trying to conceive. However, Oura emphasizes that this feature is not intended to be used as a contraceptive, pointing to the collaboration with Natural Cycles for those looking for a solution in this regard. Finally, the program Labs of Oura will finally also be available on Android, further expanding the options for users.
The Oura Ring 4 will be available in six colors and can be purchased in sizes ranging from 4 to 15a significant improvement over the previous model, which was limited to sizes 6-13. The new ring will be sold at the starting price of $349 and will be eligible for tax deductions for health reasons. Despite the $50 increase compared to the previous model, which will remain available while stocks last, the cost of the subscription (monthly from $6 or annually from $70) will remain unchanged.
