The leader of the Basque nationalists reveals that Alberto Núñez Feijóo has contacted him and they will meet at a meeting
The PNV warns that it is going free. That, although he will continue to support Pedro Sánchez until the end of the legislature, he can agree on the right and left and he should not be framed in any “block” because his priority “is Euskadi” and the agreements in Madrid are a means to defend the Basque interests. The warning to navigators was the central message of the president of the nationalist formation yesterday during the ‘Alderdi Eguna’ party (Party Day in Basque), which the PNV has recovered in all its splendor after two years of forced cancellation due to the pandemic. The fields of Foronda, in Álava, were once again filled with militants and supporters, a photograph that had not been seen since 2019 and that, despite all forecasts, respected the rain. “What a weather service we have. I already said on Thursday that it was not going to rain and in the end I leave here with my bald head burned,” Ortuzar joked.
With a more serious tone, he made it clear that his party does not marry anyone, to reproach the PSOE-Unidas Podemos government that “time is running out” to fulfill its investiture commitments and reveal that it has already received the call from Alberto Núñez Feijóo and who have arranged to see each other “soon”. Although that does not mean, he stressed, that his people are going to “change horses in the middle of the river” or “throw themselves into the arms” of the PP. “We have an agreement with Pedro Sánchez, that agreement is strong and our intention is to fulfill it in the remaining fifteen months of the legislature,” he clarified, while demanding a political boost from the president to speed up the agreements. “Many commitments remain to be fulfilled, time is running out and it is time to face the word given, as we do every time we vote in Congress and the Senate,” he recalled, although without specifically mentioning the negotiation of transfers, which have accelerated in the last few hours with the push for the imminent transfer of the Cercanías service to the Basque Country.
Once again, the PNV, which in other times used the day of the match to shake the jar of essences, ignored any allusion to the new Basque status and Ortuzar, on the other hand, ended up recalling the will to reach great agreements so that « no one is left off the hook” in these times of crisis and growing cost of living.
As for the meeting with Feijóo, Ortuzar assured that the date has not yet been set. What he did want to make clear is that if Vox enters the equation, the PNV automatically leaves. “With the fachas, nothing at all,” he settled.
