Lekso Lashkarava, an operator of the TV Pirveli television company, who was beaten up in Tbilisi during an anti-LGBT rally, died in his apartment. This was reported on the channel’s website.
Lashkarava’s body was discovered by his mother, and forensic experts are working on the spot. At the moment, the exact cause of death of the deceased is not named.
As previously reported, more than 50 journalists were injured at the rally against the March of Dignity, planned by LGBT activists for July 5 in Tbilisi. Eight people were detained for administrative violations.
The organizers of the March of Dignity canceled the event after several thousand people gathered in the center of Tbilisi. The protesters strongly opposed the LGBT procession and threw stones and bottles at journalists. Several demonstrators were detained by the police. In addition, opponents of the march threw explosives into the courtyard of a building of one of the non-governmental organizations.
