OpenAI has announced That Chat GPT and Whisper, the model of speech-to-text company, are now available for integration into apps via an application programming interface (APIs). Essentially, third-party developers can now employ ChatGPT and Whisper in their products.
Since ChatGPT’s debut in November, several rogue APIs have tried to integrate the chatbot, violating OpenAI’s terms of service. The company has now launched its answer to meet the demand.
“The ChatGPT template family we’re releasing today, GPT-3.5-turbo, is the same template used in the ChatGPT product. It has a price of $0.002 per 1k token, which is 10x cheaper compared to our existing GPT-3.5 models“, has declared the company.
So what does OpenAI want to do with the Token system?
One token represents about four characters in English. OpenAI claims that 1,000 tokens represent approximately 750 words. For example, Wayne Gretzky’s quote “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” contains 11 tokens, while the US Declaration of Independence contains 1,695.
The ChatGPT API could be cheaper than human representatives if it were used to respond to user requestsGiven the bot’s ability to formulate complex answers to detailed questions, the introduction of the API likely marks an important step toward improving the day-to-day interactions between humans and AI.
Early adopters of the ChatGPT API include Snapchat creator Snap, learning platform Quizlet, grocery delivery platform Instacart, and consumer app Shopify Shop.
Meanwhile, the Whisper API, based on the whisper-large-v2 model, will cost $0.006 per minute. OpenAI says the service will accept various audio formats like m4a, mp3, mp4, mpeg, mpga, wav, webm.
The company also claims it will not use data submitted via an API to improve its AI models unless organizations voluntarily opt-in, and that it will implement a default data retention policy for API users of 30 days; both moves appear to be aimed at curbing data security concerns.
Some considerations
The introduction of the ChatGPT API and Whisper by OpenAI represents an important step forward for the integration of artificial intelligence in daily life; however, it is important to remember that the use of these technologies should be evaluated very carefully, especially when it comes to completely replacing human labor with automated one.
Furthermore, it is necessary to pay attention to data protection, especially if you use these services to handle sensitive or personal information.
It must be said that OpenAI has taken some measures to ensure data security, but users should be aware of these risks and how to minimize them.
At the end of the fair it is interesting to note how the ChatGPT API has been adopted by several companies, demonstrating the growing importance of these technologies in the business world. This suggests that AI could play an increasingly central role in commercial activities and could lead to new opportunities and challenges for businesses.
Are some jobs in danger of disappearing, or not?
The integration of artificial intelligence, such as that provided by the ChatGPT API, could lead to a reduction in the need for human labor in some areas; for example, jobs involving answering standardized questions or handling large amounts of data could be automated through the use of chatbots or other artificial intelligence tools.
However, this one doesn’t it necessarily means that these jobs will disappear altogether, but rather that the role of human workers may changemoving on to more complex and creative tasks that require interaction with other people or the ability to solve problems that require a thorough understanding of context.
Also, the integration of AI could also lead to the creation of new jobs, for example in the implementation and maintenance of the artificial intelligence systems themselves; in any case, it is important that companies and organizations are aware of the consequences of the use of AI on human work and try to manage them in a balanced and sustainable way.
