It’s no secret that China wants to expand the boundaries of its own market. More and more brands are opening up abroad, although Europe has become the main battleground for the policies promoted from Brussels. Although Parliament wants to slow down the arrival of electric cars manufactured in China, the measures do not seem to have the impact they expect. Despite the new tariffs, more and more cars are crossing our borders. Onvo, NIO’s budget subbrand, has just acknowledged that the second of its models will be presented in just a few months. It will also reach the old continent.
It has been a while since NIO, one of the most interesting young brands in China, warned of a change in commercial strategy. Knowing that Europe demands reasonably priced electric cars, they made the strategic decision to divide and conquer. Two new brands for international markets, Onvo and Firefly. Although we still do not have a palpable product of the second, although we have sighted his first car at different stages of its testing phase, the first, Onvowe already have a real product on the table. It was presented a few months ago, it is called Onvo L60 and it is one of the many rivals that will stand up to the Tesla Model Y.
A new model with three rows of seats and a super competitive price
At the time, NIO confirmed that more models would come to the Onvo family and now a report collects very valuable information about it. As they point out chinese fontsthe presentation will take place at the end of the first quarter of next year. At the time, William Li, founder and president of NIO, warned about this, “if you think the L60 is good, then this new model is a much more competitive product”. There are still not many details about it, but we can get an idea of what we will see soon. Once again, Onvo has opted for the SUV format.
The L60 is located in the D segment. Figure by figure it is a direct rival of the Model Y with 4.83 meters long. The second unit of the family will be larger and will have capacity for six or seven passengers depending on the configuration selected. Although the presentation will take place in approximately March, deliveries will begin just a couple of months later. Onvo expects to register the first units in May, although the published report acknowledges that a delay in terms of deadlines is possible. The project is still open and the car still needs to polish some important mechanical aspects.
Although the L60 will be the springboard for the brand, the same strategy that XPeng has followed with the G6, the second Onvo model will be the one that confirms the aspirations. Due to its size and price, it will be positioned as the company’s flagship, although its size is not expected to be in the area of the Tesla Model an estimated cost of 300,000 yuan in China, approximately 40,000 euros after currency conversion. The L60 has been announced from a basic rate of 219,900 yuan, about 28,100 euros at the exchange rate. Little by little we will learn more details about this new car. At least we now know when it will be presented.
