Before the anime of One piece in Netflix, there was a lot of expectation about the Spanish dubbing that I would have. However, when it was introduced, it caused a great division among fans.
The fact is that the director in charge of the project, Arturo Castañeda Mendoza, reported in Twitter that both the team in charge and he were victims of harassment through this social network. They received threats, hateful messages, and more.
Discontent over One Piece dubbing continues
It is evident that a sector of fans of the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and their nakama they are unhappy. But that does not justify a harassment campaign. Now, a few days ago it seemed that things had escalated in the worst possible way.
Through a message, Castañeda exposed someone who was threatening him with death. In some captures it was seen that he showed a pistol and a bullet aimed at him.
One Piece: The Quest Will Officially Take You to Space
What the dubbing director of One piece wrote was ‘thanks to those who expressed their concern, I appreciate you very much’. Then he added ‘Unfortunately since we started the project there are people who send me [sic] threats of death’.
Top off saying ‘as long as I am allowed to be in this life, I will give my all’. Of course, he received several messages of support. Many denounced the nefarious attitude of the author of these terrible threats.
Threats continue against direct dubbing
The alleged author of the threats, a certain Javier Toscano (an obvious false account), claimed that he would pay with his life if in that way he ‘saved’ One piece. He threatened to have everything ready to go, showing his gun and the bullet he intended to use.
Luckily, it seems that everything is a simple montage on your part. That was discovered by one of the followers of Arturo Castañeda Mendoza. Shared images are easily found in Google.
They correspond to a related news, so this threat seems to be completely unfounded. However, it must be very bad in the head to attack someone in such a fierce way.
Ultimately, if you don’t like the Spanish dubbing, you can listen to the original Japanese voice acting. It is for the same reason that it is available. There is no excuse for harassing those responsible in this way.
