A building collapsed this morning in the Santander neighborhood of La Albericia due to an explosion, which caused one death and a dozen injuries. In addition, there are two missing people who are currently being searched for.
The emergency services have received a call alerting of an explosion and subsequent fire after 4:00 a.m., City Hall sources have indicated.
At this time, the emergency services are acting in the area and the Government of Cantabria will report the event at a press conference that it has called at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital in Santander.
At the site of the explosion are the mayor of Santander, Gema Igual; the president of Cantabria, María José Sáenz de Buruaga; and the Government delegate, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, in addition to the emergency teams that are acting in the area.
