A man who was charged in the January 6, 2021 assault on the Capitol has been arrested for possession of a firearm just a few days after his case was pardoned by President Donald Trump.
Daniel Ball, 39, is now charged with possessing a firearm or ammunition in May 2023 having been previously convicted of domestic violence crimesas well as resistance and aggression against law enforcement, although their involvement in the assault on the Capitol is not mentioned, according to the Prosecutor’s indictment.
Ball had been accused in Washington DC of twelve charges related to the attack on the Capitol, including the use of an explosive device against police officers and aggression or resistance to authorities, and was in preventive detention.
This past Monday, Trump pardoned the indicted for the 2021 Capitol assaultin one of the first executive orders that he signs a few hours after being sworn in as president.
The president signed the presidential pardon and the commutation of sentences in the Oval Office of the White House, where he stressed that there are nearly 1,500 people benefited for this measure, whom he called “hostages.” In addition to the pardons there are six commutations.
On January 6, 2021, a mob of trump fans broke into the United States Congress to try, unsuccessfully, to prevent the ratification of Democrat Joe Biden’s electoral victory in the November 2020 presidential elections.
