One person has died and five others have been injured in a shooting at Albany State Universityin Georgia (United States), on Saturday night, the State Investigation Office reported this Sunday.
The events occurred at 8:50 p.m. local time (4:50 a.m. on Sunday in Spain) during a “very crowded” concert which was held on campus and which could also be attended by people who did not belong to this university, the agency indicated in a statement.
Six people were wounded by gunshots and one of the victims, De’Marion Tashawn Daniels, 19, of Newman (also in Georgia), died. The young man was not a university student.
The injured, aged between 13 and 20, were treated on campus before being taken to a local hospital.
Albany Police keep looking for the aggressor; At the moment no arrests have been made.
Albany State University, which has about 6,500 students, is a historically black educational centernotes CNN.
Also yesterday, three people were killed and eight others were injured in another shooting in Mississippi, which took place while the victims were celebrating a school’s victory in a football game. Again, those affected were young people between 19 and 25 years old.
So far this year, there have been at least 422 mass shootings in the United Statesaccording to data from the organization Gun Violence Archive.
