A criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Causing death by negligence to two or more persons”) was initiated after the death of six people in a fire in a private house in the Yakut village of Suntar.
“The Nyurba Interdistrict Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) initiated a criminal case into the death of six people in a fire in the village of Suntar, Suntarsky District, on the night of February 13, 2022. According to the investigation, two adults and four children became victims of the fire,» told in the department.
As part of the criminal case, the circumstances of the incident will be established. Investigators from the regional department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, forensic specialists and an interrogator from the department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working at the scene. Specialists conduct interrogations, appoint the necessary examinations and evaluate the actions of officials that could have had consequences that led to the tragedy.
The course of the investigation is controlled by the leadership of the regional investigative department.
The fire, which killed six people, four of whom were children, occurred on the night of February 12-13 in a private house in the village of Suntar in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
According to preliminary information, the fire in the house could be caused by a short circuit or improper use of the stove. Upon the fact of the incident, the regional prosecutor’s office organized an investigation.
According to the data of rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, at the time of the arrival of firefighters, an open burning of the building was observed, the fire damaged a two-story residential building over the entire area. The fire area was 70 sq.m.
