Kim Glass, the American who won an Olympic silver medal in volleyball at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, was assaulted in the city of Los Angeles, California, by a homeless person with a steel pipe.
The woman detailed in a video published on her social networks how was the attack she suffered last weekend after leaving a restaurant with a friend and for which she almost lost an eye.
“He just looked at me with pretty hateful eyes and when I turned around to go tell my friend ‘I think something is wrong with him and I think he’s going to hit a car’ before I knew it , a big metal bolt, like a pipe, hit me right here (pointing to the eye),” Glass said.

The 37-year-old athlete added that everything “happened very quickly” and that the tube that the man threw at him from several meters away crashed into his eye socket and the bridge of his nosecausing serious injury.
Glass had to go to a medical center after the attack. There he was diagnosed with multiple facial fractures and had to close the wounds on his nose with several stitches.
In the photographs and videos that Glass has published on his social networks, it can be seen that he cannot open his eye due to swelling.. Fortunately, the doctors assured her that his vision was not compromised by the blow.

As for the man who assaulted Glass, several bystanders who witnessed the attack grabbed him and held him down until police arrived.
The 51-year-old subject, according to the Los Angeles Police, was identified and arrested for the crime of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and did not receive bail.
