In total five medals grabbed the Beijing Olympics Iivo Niskanen and Kerttu Niskanen received the medal celebrations they deserved in the childhood landscapes of the siblings in Vieremä. The intensified frost bridge did not frighten the festive people who arrived, as according to some estimates, there were even closer to 3,000 eager fans to welcome the heroes of the village.

The audience got to admire not only the Olympic heroes, but also the spectacular final fireworks display.

“Absolutely speechless. It was almost more exciting to get up from behind a small hill towards the stage than the start of the Olympics, ”laughed Kerttu Niskanen.

The celebration recalled memorable moments from the Zhangjiakou Olympic Games. Iivo Niskanen’s personal coach Olli Ohtonen praised his protector for following the clockwork on his way to 15 miles of Olympic gold. Iivo also admitted that everything had fallen into place in one of the most important places in his career.

“Pretty much everything went according to plan. The memory didn’t break at any point, ”the man hose.

Uranus Kerttu Niskanen, who skied the first personal Olympic medals in the Games, admitted that a 0.4 second loss Therese Johaugille is not completely erased from the mind, although silver had already been found on the gold rim.

“A couple of nights I woke up and tried to reach for the bed or push a little extra momentum to the last hill,” Kerttu laughed at the audience.

Kerttu experienced the biggest surprise of the party night when Iivo announced the evening as a surprise performer Lauri Tähkän. The familiar shouts of joy revealed that the surprise was pleasant. Organized the event Juha Vidgren got a good tip from Iivo for mapping the performer.
