Olympic Games Therese Johaug has been criticized in Norway: she is accused of violating an unwritten rule

Johaug got a difference in the place where Sweden’s Ebba Andersson drank.

Norwegian Therese Johaug took an overwhelming victory in the women’s 30-kilometer (v) relay race at the Beijing Olympics. In Sunday’s race, Johaug ran away from the others well in advance, and the winning margin stretched to over a minute and a half.

The actions of the Beijing ski queen in the competition have sparked criticism in her home country.

Expert of the Norwegian Dagbladet Torgeir Bjørn says Johaugin broke an unwritten rule when he dropped Sweden Ebba Anderssonin from their heels.

There was a difference between Johaug and Andersson at the point where Andersson drank and Johaug continued his journey without drinking. In the same group, a silver medalist also skied at that point in the race Jessie Diggins.

“It’s an unwritten rule that you shouldn’t try to make a difference when others drink. But I don’t think Therese cares, ” Bjørn said according to Dagbladet.

Johaug heard Bjørn ‘s comments after the race in a Swedish newspaper Expressen asked him about it.

“If they had the strength, they would have caught the two seconds they lost in it. That suggests they were at the extremes, ”Johaug said.

Andersson admitted that his strength was beginning to wane and he needed to focus on his own race. In the end, Andersson lost the medal in the final kilometer of the race, including a bronze medalist in the race Kerttu Niskanen skied past him.

Johaug won all three personal trips in Beijing.
