The Pumas 7 debuted with a great victory against Australia in group A of the men’s rugby tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. After a furious first half, in which they took a great advantage, the Argentines held up well the reaction of the oceanic and they took the victory by 29 to 19 at the Tokyo Stadium.
Unstoppable, those led by Santiago Gomez Cora they were clear dominators in the first half, in which they constantly pressed forward, took over the ball and did not let the Australians attack.
With tries of Lucio Cinti, Matías Osadczuk, Marcos Moneta and Ignacio Mendy, plus two conversions of Santiago Mare, the Pumas closed the first half 24-0 up on the scoreboard.

In the second half, the oceanic went out to seek recovery and gradually narrowed the distance. Josh turner, twice, and Samu Kerevi supported the rival ingoal and Maurice longbotton contributed two conversions to mark 19-24.
It seemed that the ending was going to be fraught with tension, with the Wallabies just one try to tie the story. But in the last seconds Lautaro Bazán Vélez he stole the ball, escaped in solitude and scored a new try to seal the blue and white triumph.
