Thus, a hundred older children will take to the field than in the previous three editions of the initiative, dedicated to elementary school children. “This year we wanted to introduce the project for boys and girls of the first year of secondary school – he says Lara Tagliabue, project manager of the Laureus Italia Foundation – because experience has made us understand that this age of transition is very delicate and that it is very important to accompany children with increased attention in the development of skills related to collaboration, problem solving, communication and emotion management. Even more, as Laureus has always done, in more peripheral neighborhoods, even if this type of approach could be applied everywhere “.
The project Euroleague Basketball One Team, season 2021-2022, foresees a cycle of at least 8 meetings for each class, starting from February and until the end of May. The work sessions include a practical part with training in the field, led by the coaches of theOlimpia Milanworkshops for the in-depth study of the contents that emerged curated by Alessandra Stella, sports psychologist of Laureusand meetings with Luigi Datome And Kyle Hines, Olimpia Milano players, who go down on the parquet in favor of the project. Also this year there will be the possibility for the young people involved to attend a Euroleague match at the Mediolanum Forum of Assagothe home of Olimpia.
The aims of the project concern the emotional, psychological and physical spheres of the participants, so that they can acquire the life skills necessary to face the different situations of everyday life, and the skills from an emotional, psychological and motor point of view. The themes of the meetings will vary from communication to empathy, from problem solving to managing emotions, relationships and stress. The goal remains to unveil the potential of children belonging to complex social realities, to educate them to respect the rules and to show them how to relate to their peers and adults. All this thanks to teamwork and sports practice. In fact, in a historical period in which young people have been deprived of sport and sociality for long months, it is essential to rediscover their value in terms of personal growth and evolution.
