90-year-old Fernanda Cocchi was killed with at least one iron blow to the head
MILAN. One of them knew the palace well because for a while he had slept there with a relative. And then the 44-year-old Peruvian had had some contact with the victim. On Friday he went into action with a 22-year-old Ecuadorian. But the attempted theft ended in tragedy: the 90-year-old Fernanda Cocchi was killed with at least an iron blow to the head. During the night the two South Americans were stopped by the Flying Squad, directed by Marco Calì.
It was useless to try to stage a fire in the apartment of the elderly lady, now almost blind and bent with aches, in via Ponte Seveso, a hundred meters from Milan’s central station. When the policemen arrived, warned by the firefighters, they immediately understood it was a murder.
A knife with a steel handle was also seized at home, but it is not clear whether it was used for the crime. The two would have entered the lady’s apartment to rob her but would have been surprised by the woman. Under pressure in the night in the offices of the Police Headquarters, they preferred not to answer the questions of the investigators, coordinated by the prosecutor Rossella Incardona.
