The 1908 photo, which shows the townspeople fishing outside the Kremlin walls, delighted the Russians. A 113-year-old snapshot was published in Facebook-the group “About Moscow and Muscovites (About you and about me)”.
“Great”, “How great!”, “Very interesting photo,” the commentators wrote. Someone was interested not only in fishermen, but also in Muscovites walking along the coast in costumes of that era.
One of the users noted the similarity of an old picture with a drawing on a three-ruble bill in the USSR. Soviet banknotes did indeed depict the Kremlin from a similar perspective. The user joked that the first version of the “three-ruble plan” was in the photo.
For many, the picture of fishermen reminded of another event in 1908 – then one of the largest floods in the history of the city occurred in Moscow. Users have shared photos of people sailing on boats on water bodies.
Earlier, netizens were also surprised by a photo of Muscovites from 112 years ago. The snapshot of ordinary people, presumably peasants, in front of the Kremlin, prompted Russians to speculate about how people from the lower class lived.
