Germany called on the Palestinian Hamas movement to immediately release all existing hostages. Chancellor Olaf Scholz wrote about this on Friday, November 24, on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
“All hostages must be released by Hamas without preconditions,” he said.
Scholz also reacted positively to the news about the recently released first group of hostages.
Meanwhile, Izvestia stringer Nikita Kulyukhin reported that the first helicopter with the freed hostages landed in Tel Aviv near the Schneider hospital.
On November 24, doctors examined all areas of the first group of hostages, who spent 49 days in captivity of the radical Hamas group in the Gaza Strip. The examination took place at the Kerem Shalom checkpoint. It was noted that 13 Israelis returned home, and 11 foreign citizens also arrived with them. In addition, it was reported that the child hostages, who were held captive by the Palestinian Hamas movement for almost two months, would be taken to the Israeli Schneider Hospital.
On the same day, the freed hostages from the Gaza Strip arrived in Israel and were met by military and intelligence officers.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has confirmed the release of a group of 24 prisoners from the Gaza Strip. Among the released hostages, in addition to 13 Israelis, there are also 12 Thai citizens.
On the morning of November 24, a temporary ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel came into force. The truce began at 07:00 (08:00 Moscow time). Hamas expressed hope that the humanitarian truce will be extended.
The Israeli government on November 22 approved a plan to return at least 50 Hamas hostages within four days during which there will be no fighting. Hamas confirmed an agreement on a four-day truce for the return of hostages. In response to the release of 50 Israelis held by the Palestinian movement in the Gaza Strip, Israel will release 150 Palestinian prisoners.
The aggravation in the Middle East began on the morning of October 7, when the Hamas movement subjected Israeli territory to massive rocket fire, which was carried out from the Gaza Strip, and also invaded the border areas in the south of the country. On the same day, the Israeli side began to launch retaliatory strikes.
Palestinians are seeking to return the borders between the two countries to the lines that existed before the 1967 Six-Day War. Palestine wants to create its own state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and make East Jerusalem its capital. Israel refuses the conditions set.
