The weekend from 14 to 16 June will finally see the return of Superbike after a break that began in mid-April, when the third round of the season took place in Holland. The engines will soon restart on the circuit Misano Adriatico for the first of the two scheduled events scheduled in Italy, valid for the Emilia-Romagna Round, where we will also witness another great return.
Pirro on the track
For the first time since 2019in fact, he will return to the same track that saw him competing for the last time in Superbike Michele Pirrotest rider for Ducati e wild cards from the same house in Borgo Panigale in Misano. In this way, the Apulian will participate in the event riding the Panigale V4 R, much awaited by the Apulian: “For this year it’s a dream – he declared in an interview given to the official website of the competition – WorldSBK is a good chance to stay at a good level. For my job as a test driver it is necessary to remain at the highest level, and this wildcard is an excellent opportunity to do so. Mine today big problem was understanding the feeling at the front given that the tires Pirelli are totally different from Michelin and also from Dunlop. I check the data of the other riders but I also try to do my best.”
The level of competition
A dream made even more beautiful by the possibility of defending the colors of the official team in their home round. However, Pirro will have to face the challenge of a championship that has become increasingly competitive in recent seasons: “Compared to five or six years ago I am old! The level of WorldSBK is very high and the bikes are very competitive – has explained – BMW and also Yamaha are struggling much more than in the past. But we’ll see how things go on the race weekend. For me it’s my home race and I’m really happy to race with the colors of Aruba in this home race.”
Ducati’s progress
Finally, speaking about his role in Ducati, Pirro did not hide his pride in having contributed to the team’s successes over the last few years: “The story is completely different compared to when I arrived at Ducati in MotoGP 12 years ago – he concluded – I’m really happy since I’m still in the middle of all this and trying the best bikes. As a rider you also try to put all this experience and information into this bike. I think it’s the first house to try to bring this reality to life. Over the last five or six years Ducati has been trying to improve in EVERY Championship“.
